The Difference Between Levels 1–6 at Powerhouse Pilates in Common

If you’ve looked at our class schedule and wondered which level is right for you, you’re not alone. Many Myrtle Beach beginners tell us they’ve avoided trying Pilates elsewhere because the levels felt confusing or unclear.

Our studio solves that.

We created a 6-level Pilates system that removes all the guesswork and helps every client — from brand new to advanced — progress safely, confidently, and at a pace that feels good.

This guide breaks down what each level means, what to expect, and how to choose the perfect starting point.

Level 1: Foundations

Best for: True beginners, anyone returning after a long break, and everyone who wants to learn safely.

What you’ll learn:

• Breath and alignment
• Core activation
• Reformer basics
• Controlled transitions
• Slow-paced, clear instruction

This is your safe, supported starting point.
If you’ve never done Pilates — or you’re out of shape, nervous, or unsure — start here.

Why beginners love it:

You build confidence quickly without feeling overwhelmed.

Level 2: Next Level

Best for: Students who feel comfortable in Level 1 and want gentle progression.

What changes:

• Smoother transitions
• Light resistance increases
• Slightly longer sequences
• More coordination and flow

Level 2 keeps everything beginner-friendly while introducing new challenges in a supportive way.

Level 3: Pre-Intermediate

Best for: Students ready for more dynamic movement and core-focused work.

What to expect:

• Unilateral movements (one side at a time)
• Light balance challenges
• Controlled extension
• More full-body coordination

This level prepares your body safely for intermediate work.
It’s a big confidence booster.

Level 4: Intermediate

Best for: Consistent Pilates students with strong fundamentals.

What changes:

• Stronger core sequences
• Increased balance and stability work
• Multi-step transitions
• More flow and stamina

Movements feel more athletic but still stay controlled and joint-friendly.

Level 5: Pre-Mastery

Best for: Students who love challenge, control, and precision.

Expect:

• Advanced balance work
• Higher body awareness
• Deeper flexibility
• Stronger, more complex sequences

This level refines your technique while building impressive functional strength.

Level 6: Mastery

Best for: Advanced Pilates athletes with strong awareness, alignment, and stamina.

What happens here:

• High-level coordination
• Faster transitions
• Advanced strength patterns
• Deep core work
• Complex reformer sequences

This level celebrates skill, discipline, and years of progression.
It’s for students who want to work at the highest level with control and precision.

How to Choose Your Starting Level

Start at Level 1 Introduction to Foundations Pilates for 60 minutes. After this class move to Level 2. Movement up in levels is not dependent on the number of classes taken but on the progressive skills one is demonstrating to move safely to the next level.

Why Our Level System Works

Our 6-level approach sets us apart in Myrtle Beach because it gives you:
• A clear, safe starting point
• A roadmap for progression
• Consistent guidance at every step
• Supportive instructors who know your level
• Classes that match your body and goals

We’ve removed the mystery, confusion, and overwhelm that many beginners feel at bigger studios.

At Powerhouse Pilates in Common, you always know exactly where you belong — and exactly how to grow.

When Will I Know It’s Time to Move Up?

Most students move up when:
• The movements feel controlled
• You understand the cues
• Your balance improves
• Your body feels ready for challenge
• Your instructor gives you the green light

There’s no rush.
Progression should feel exciting, not stressful. There is not a straight one-way decision to move up, it's a holistic and cumulative demonstration that one understands their movement in a safe manner.

Why Myrtle Beach Beginners Trust Our Studio

Our studio is designed for real people — busy adults, new movers, returning exercisers, and anyone wanting a safe, supportive way to build strength.

You don’t need to be flexible, strong, or experienced.
