Pilates Teacher Training Is Underway: Building the Next Generation of Pilates Instructors

Pilates education is growing at Powerhouse Pilates in Common.

Our first Pilates Teacher Training experience is now underway in collaboration with Jenna Jones of Restoration Pilates & Wellness in Shallotte, North Carolina, creating another pathway for people in the Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Shallotte, and surrounding areas who are interested in learning more about becoming a Pilates instructor.

This is the beginning of what we hope will be an ongoing opportunity for Pilates education, mentorship, observation, and practical studio experience in our region.

A Teacher Training Pathway Close to Myrtle Beach

One of the questions we hear is:

“How do I become a Pilates instructor in the Myrtle Beach area?”

For prospective instructors, finding a program can mean trying to piece together online education, travel, observation hours, practice teaching, and mentorship.

Our goal is to make that pathway easier to understand.

Teacher Training is led by Jenna Jones through Restoration Pilates & Wellness in Shallotte, NC, with opportunities for additional observation, mentoring, apprenticeship, and practical studio experience through Powerhouse Pilates in Common when applicable.

What Does Pilates Teacher Training Include?

Becoming an instructor involves much more than memorizing exercises.

Teacher education is designed to develop an understanding of Pilates movement, exercise execution, appropriate cueing, programming, observation, and the ability to guide different people through movement confidently and responsibly.

The training process can include a combination of:

  • Live teacher education and hands-on instruction

  • Pilates movement and exercise study

  • Cueing and communication

  • Observation of experienced instructors

  • Practice teaching

  • Mentoring and feedback

  • Independent study and assignments

  • Practical studio experience

  • Completion of applicable program and certification requirements

The objective is to develop knowledgeable and confident instructors, rather than simply completing a course as quickly as possible.

Our First Training Is Underway — More to Come

Our first Teacher Training experience is currently underway.

That means someone discovering us today doesn't have to assume they've missed their opportunity.

Additional Teacher Training opportunities are expected, with future dates and information to be announced as they become available.

Does Completing Teacher Training Guarantee a Job?

No.

Participation in or completion of Teacher Training, observation hours, mentoring, apprenticeship, practice teaching, or other educational activities does not constitute an offer or guarantee of employment with Powerhouse Pilates in Common, Restoration Pilates & Wellness, or any affiliated or participating studio.

Teacher Training is an educational and professional-development opportunity.

Any future employment opportunity would be considered separately based on the studio's needs, available positions, qualifications, successful completion of applicable training or certification requirements, teaching ability, and the studio's normal hiring process.

We want this distinction to be clear from the beginning so prospective students can choose Teacher Training because they want to develop the knowledge and skills to teach Pilates, regardless of where their future teaching journey takes them.
