What to Bring to Your First Pilates Class: Myrtle Beach Checklist
Starting something new can feel intimidating, but your first Pilates class should be exciting, not stressful. At Powerhouse Pilates in Common, we make it easy for beginners to feel welcome, supported, and ready for success. Use this simple checklist to prepare for your first session and start your Pilates journey with confidence.
1. Comfortable, Fitted Clothing
Wear leggings or fitted shorts with a comfortable top. Avoid loose or baggy clothing because it can get caught on the reformer and make movements harder to control. Form-fitting clothes help you—and your instructor—see how your body is moving so you can improve alignment and technique.
2. Grip Socks (Required)
Grip socks help keep your feet secure on the reformer and reduce slipping. They also add an extra layer of hygiene and comfort. If you don’t have grip socks yet, barefoot is perfectly fine for your first session.
3. Water Bottle
Hydration is important. Pilates focuses on controlled movement and breath, but you will still work your muscles and break a sweat. Keep a small water bottle nearby so you can stay hydrated during and after class.
4. Positive Attitude
This might be the most important thing you bring. Pilates meets you where you are, no matter your fitness level or experience. Be ready to learn, move at your own pace, and enjoy the process.
Tips for Your First Pilates Class
Arrive 10 minutes early to check in, meet your instructor, and get familiar with the studio.
Let your instructor know if you have any injuries or concerns so they can offer modifications.
Don’t stress if something feels unfamiliar—it’s normal to be new, and your instructor will guide you through every move.
